Drawing, throwing, hand-building, surface decoration and glazing are all ways into designing and refining ideas. I mostly throw and decorate on the pottery wheel, however, hand-building and constructing vessels from a variety of component parts is increasingly of interest. I use a variety of stylised botanical, landscape and abstract motifs and patterns in my work. At this point in my life, I am happy to meander in and out of any style of work that takes my fancy. There is always a connection between the objects I make and I find it rewarding when others find connections in my pieces for themselves.
